Relocation Services Canada – Understanding the Differences for Employee Relocation between Canada and the US

Canada and the United States of America have a lot in common. At the surface, it can be hard to spot the differences. The two nations share a lot of the same culture, resources and human rights. Workers looking to relocate to North America may find the differences to be small, but upon further investigation workers will find some fairly substantial differences between the two nations.
We offer relocation services in Canada; our work allows us the ability to connect with a wide range of employees and businesses. Relocating employees can have a hard decision to make. Deciding which country provides a better lifestyle and employment opportunity can be difficult.
Both countries are diverse. Living in Toronto is much different than living in Vancouver; working in French Canada is even more unique. The same can be said about the United States. An expat living in New York City will have a much different experience than one who resides in Dallas.
Relocation services in Canada have historically been in high demand. Generally, Canada is much more aggressive when it comes to opening its doors to international talent. For years Canada has openly solicited expat workers from around the world. The general public is usually accepting of immigrant workers and feels they are an important part of the country’s economic success. Many individual urban regions have their own initiatives to increase immigrant worker interest. There are many national and local programs that help newcomers with language training and provide relocation resources. Working with an established company that offers Canadian relocation services will allow new international workers the ability to quickly tap into these public services.
Canada has always prided itself on being a cultural mosaic and it is an important part of the country’s identity. A recent survey found that Canadians value their cultural diversity more than their flag, the mounties and even hockey. The Canadian health care system was the only thing that outranked cultural diversity in the survey.
The United States has many laws that provide protection for an individual’s culture, religion and eventual immigration. Both countries also have very strong legal protections against discrimination. It may be fair to say that the American government does not actively grow their immigration worker population and nor do they celebrate theur diversity in the way Canadians do.
Some of the biggest differences between the two nations can be found in each country’s immigration policy. International workers applying to relocate to Canada will need to undergo a test. Applicants are ranked on a point system. One hundred points are possible, and 67 are required to get an entry visa. Included are English and French language skills (28 possible points), education (25 points), experience (15 points), adaptability (10 points), age (12 points) and job offers (10 points).
Those applying for a green card to work in the United States often go through a much harder and expensive process. America caps the number of international workers entering their borders. These caps do fluctuate over time and are determined by Congress. Canada does not have a set cap, allowing for more opportunity. More and more immigrant workers head north to Canada after having a difficult time obtaining an American green card.
Canada and the United Sates both offer excellent opportunities. But obtaining a Canadian work visa is typically a much kinder task than the American process. Working with a company offering Canadian relocation services is a great way to navigate through the immigration process. Our team are experts in helping people through the entire relocation process.
